Eating Green

Eating Green??? As I hear the question echoes coming in from the blogosphere. We are hearing alot these days about the Green Revolution. The contruction of buildings both commercial, and residential, fabrics we use for our clothes, cleaning formulas, energy to power our every day needs and last but not least our transportation. However, today I am not going to be addressing any of the afore mentioned topics. What then, you say is all this about, "Eating Green"??? The answer happens to be a huge head of cabbage in the 15+lbs. range. It happened my way when my brother, an owner/operator of an 18 wheeler, delivered a load of these members of the brassica family to a grocery warehouse. Now, I am thinking of all the ways to use it up. A very sweet Fall treat considering it's size. Thanks brother Ed! ;)

I love cabbage with a lot of salt on it. :)

The Hunter's Wife - I like to eat cabage with salt too.

A few other cabbage dishes I implement are -

1.) Corned Beef & Cabbage.

2.)Hamburger with onions, garlic and anise or fennel seed, sauteed with cabbage.

3.)Then there is the common side-dish cole slaw( lots of variations)...

I certainly won't run out for a while. ;)

Maybe some sauerkraut, too! That is one big head of cabbage. Enjoy it!

Mel - Sauerkraut is a good suggestion. However, alas it would only be for me. Hubby doesn't eat it.

You can bet we will have a lot of good eating from that BIG cabbage...;)

Oofta! That's as big as a butterball turkey! I'll just do the boring ol' cole slaw and be content.

Tom Sorenson - I never thought of it in those terms of being compared to a Butter Ball turkey. It sure does weigh as much as one of those birds though.

Cole slaw, eah? Good stuff.
Do you eat it with wild game? ;)

Marion Love Phillips- The cabbage really has been very good. I have even chopped it and put on a Cesar Vinagrette...It was pretty good.

I bet your way of preparing it tastes really good too. Can't say I've ever tried it that way. Hmmm, new way to give it a try... ;)
