Deer-Cat

This picture came to me by way of a forward. The source of the picture was attributed to a lady in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, taken on Saturday. Deer on the deck. Looking in the sliding glass door. That would certainly bring excitement in this household! I wouldn't want the deer to be finding their way through the window... Brings to mind the story I read over at Simply Outdoors about Jeff's deer hunt that seemed to find the bucks confused. At any rate, I wanted to share this picture of a buck, nose to nose, looking longingly into the eyes of an individual of the opposite species. You just wonder what they're thinking???

POST UPDATE March 5, 2008: The original photographer of this picture has offered the facts. Please read the following - This is in regards to the deer and Cat photo. It had been brought to my attention that some one claiming to had taken this photo is from Wisconsin. i am just here to say this is not true, i am the owner of this photo and it was posted in the " country Extra" magazine - Jan issue of 2008 - page 22. It clearly states Marilyn Thornbery, outta Colorado was the photographer. i took this shot and a series of approx 10 more in sequence of the interactions between my cat and the deer. so if your reading this Post and can pass along the information and give credit due where it belongs, i'd appreciate it. Thank you, M. Thornbery

Maybe the buck is thinking, "Wanna play until this doe come in heat?"

deerPHd - That could be...wish we had insight into the animal psyche. Like "Dr. Doolittle," then again maybe we wouldn't want to know what was on their minds. ;)

Hi I received this picture in an email that said it was from PA. Someone told me these are mule deer, which are only found out west, so Wisconsin would be out too! Really cute where ever it's from!

Anonymous - Thanks for the information...I guess I didn't look at the type of deer and trusted the FW: info. I was looking at the entertainment factor. ;) Again thanks!

I would truly like to speak with the persom who claims to have taken that shot because it was taken just outside the Sequoia National Park at my ranch with friends as witnesses and I still have the negative. I posted it over two years ago on "MySpace" where it was most likely copied from.

Merle - I found a little more information here http://forums.netphoria.org/general-chat-message-board/155552-two-deer-cat-3.html

It takes a little bit of reading but Marilyn Thornbery's son Kent, has listed her e-mail address as of two years ago.

So does anyone know who really took this photo? Is it a public domain photo that can be printed without permission?

Thank you for any information!

I honestly don't know who actually owns the picture with two or three people claiming the rights so far.

I received it as an e-mail FW: so I assume someone had to have found it online somewhere...I got it back in January 2008. I found it entertaining, posting it and placing information that I found or came to me about it. Thanks for asking!

I love your photo! Animals are so innocent why can't we humans treat each other so wonderfully? A friend sent this to me and I put it up in my office for the patients I care for to enjoy. Everyone falls in love with it the minute they see it! All my co workers have asked me to email it to them so they can enjoy it too..Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful moment!!

Omg ! There's a women on facebook claiming that her picture she took up the mountains is her's someone needs to call her out that's pretty pathetic, by the way look her up on timeline on facebok her name is Leighanne doyle hammer everyone should leave her a message she's a fake.Only the original person of this photo should get credit so call her out on this by the way in a decent manner. p.S THAT SHOULD BE A VIOLATION USING A PICTURE THAT IS NOT YOURS..

Anonymous - Thank you for your Facebook observation.

It is unethical to use someone elses pictures, or written material, without permission if they aren't attributed to the rightful owner.

That is why I have published all the information I have as to who may own this picture on this comment thread.
