Birds, Birds, and MORE Birds!
Look what the warmer temperatures are bringing north.
Twice a year we experience over populations of a bird called the Common Grackle. Migrations from the far north to the south in the fall and back again this time of year.
So, after snapping the pictures above, there was a pair of birds that seemed to be walking around looking things over. Placing human values on their activity; it was if they were checking out the surroundings in an effort to find suitable accommodations. We have had geese in the neighborhood for years, because of a pond they adopt for raising a family on their return from the south, but until now, they have only visited the surrounding fields.
It wasn't long after I got this picture they felt the need to flee, hmmm... or is that fly?
I love this time of year because I can hear the birds chirping when I go outside. It always sounds like spring to me.
ReplyDeleteI also love listening to the geese as they fly over. I don't know what it is, but I love to hear them honking.
kristine- I believe I know what you mean. The birds seem to usher in the change of the seasons, we associate the return of their songs to nicer weather. Trees blossoming...and some long awaited sunshine. ;)
ReplyDeleteListening to the geese honking is very cool. We have a ton of cranes around us as well and the sound they make is definitely distinct.
ReplyDeleteGotta love this time of year. I only love Fall even more!
simplyoutdoors - I can relate to liking fall. Being born in September I have always been drawn to the season.
ReplyDeleteNow, because of adding hunting to the repertoire, it brings another great reason to look forward to that time of year.
Good pictures of the birds cdgardens...just don't get under the trees! Love the geese...first time I heard a slew of them pass overhead was when I was on a deerstand at Rex's famous Christmas Place Huntng Club. It was awesome! In fact, I got pictures of it on my blog. :)
ReplyDeletePS: Happy Spring!!
Marian - Fortunately I was at a distance when the birds were flying around here the other day.
ReplyDeleteIn the last month we have seen all kinds of water-birds heading over. I try not to be under them. ;)
