Black Bear in Bremer County Iowa

Picture owned by Jade Bergmann
The Black Bear first sighted up by Ridgeway continues to make it's way around the Northeast part of Iowa.

June 11th, 2012, brought more citizen reports from the Bremer County town of Frederika, of a Black Bear wandering the area.

The latest photographer documenting the bear's location is Jade Bergmann.

Below are maps roughly showing where the Black Bear has made itself known.

From: Ridgeway, IA To: Fredericksburg, IA
Ridgeway to Fredericksburg - May 15th - 21st
From: Fredericksburg, IA To: Frederika, IA
Fredericksburg to Frederika - May 21st - June 11th

It is speculation as to the next destination of the young bear, but officials feel it is moving in large circles heading east and will return to it's home range.

I have a feeling the Saga of the Black Bear will continue for a while this year...More updates likely later.

WOW neat pix - while out west in Las Vegas, NM, at the cabin in the woods, was hoping to see a black bear but never did. I left the cabin to take a short walk to the generator house to photograph where a bear had clawed the bottom of the door and heard a snap behind the house overlooking a hill and decided to make a dash back to camp. They have encountered bears, a mountain lion, mule deer and elk on their 2,000 acres of land which is now a wildlife game preserve. It's called Cerro Bonito! :)
PS: Looking forward to more updates! Wonder if it will make it to the Timber where you live?

Marian Love Phillips - Ms. Bergmann certainly did catch a great picture of the bear.

Hmmm, it sounds like you had some exciting times while you were out in NM. I will be checking out your pictures.

PS: I am hoping the bear stays out of my timber. It would have a long walk to get here ,but nothing is impossible, and the berries would be a tasty treat.
