Here is a product called Pet Odoban. Supposed to be a "No Chew Spray", Tea Tree oil,a bitter barrier. Hmmm, no chew, huh?!?
My Mom would totally saturate the surfaces until the liquid was running off the shoes and some furniture I found to be particulary of interest. Boy! The first couple of times it made me shake my head when I lapped it up. After while it didn't make any difference...
So, Sadie says, not every dog may have the same results of being offended by the flavor provided by this product. Don't count on protection.
Better luck next time 'round Mom!

That's funny, we used bitter apple. Didn't make a bit of difference.
I've never tried any of these products with my dog, but after reading this I'm a little relieved that I didn't waste the money.
Some dogs just chew no matter what. Guess Sadie just has the chewing gene.
I used the method of putting my shoes up. My dog is 9 years old and will still sometimes run off with my shoe.
Hi Everybody - I am beginning to think that the chewing behavior will subside( a little) after Sadie's teeth all get erupted. We have started putting the shoes out of reach so the temptation doesn't exist. No more wasting money on trying to find the elusive fix.
